Days 1 and 2

After a few hours spent delaying g and I's inevitable farewells and waiting for Katherine's toenails to dry, we finally hopped aboard the magic bullet and I said my goodbyes to the city I said hello in.

The three of us were more than excited, and probably a little scared, but we spoke nothing of it.

The first hours were fairly quiet only briefly interrupted by a short stint of the Dalai Llama, and some conversation regarding what we were each most excited about (everything?!)

As soon as it was my turn to drive it started pouring rain, so Jackie (I think I am still allowed to call him that) had to take over again. Many banana chips and fashion talk later, we had arrived in Savannah, GA where we were to be staying in our first and last hotel. The hotel had a continental breakfast, so after we ate I gathered as much food as possible- a la my mother- and we were on our way to explore historic Savannah.

Oh yeah, and here is the first picture of Katherine "roughing" it:

Savannah is beautiful. On our way downtown there was a constant canopy of spanish moss hovering above and there was an overall magical, mystical feeling. We had also found the perfect soundtrack for our journey- a radio station playing old religious soul music- "If you ain't never needed the Lord before, you sure gonna need him now" (or something like that). Speaking of the Lord:

Look at all the Spanish Moss!!!!!

Of course we visited a cemetary. It was similar to one that Ali and I had found hidden in Berlin, but maybe even better.

After a few hours of walking around and eating delicious food, we left Savannah. Heres some stuff that happened on our 10 hour drive to New Orleans.

somewhere in Florida

somewhere near Mobile, Alabama

tunnel to New Orleans

We are now in New Orleans staying with Layla. She is wonderful, and so are her roommates. You can feel the heat here in every part of your body. This morning I was digging around in the car and it felt as though my bones were sweating.

Today we will explore the city.
