We were lucky enough to have Layla, Michael, and Applehead (?) as hosts and their lovely mustard yellow home to sleep in. The first day we journeyed into the French Quarter and stopped at the famous Central Grocery for a Muffaletta.
There are no words to describe the deliciousness of a Muffaletta, and there are even fewer words to describe what actually is in a Muffalletta (I never actually found out).
After our bellies were full we walked around the french quarter stopping into various shops, passing by various street musicians and other strange characters, like these:
Interesting porch decorations and beautiful architecture:
'sweet dudes' posing in front of Bourbon street signs:
Then we stopped by St. Louis Cathedral
where we found a Holy water Faucet:
and a frightening nun:
and Jack stopped to pray:
one of many dead cockroaches we came across:
And it's time for us to go into downtown Austin, crawfish, swimming pools and Anderson Cooper to come next!
